At the SG Pop-up Studio!
This traveling tent makes its way to community events across the Durham Region, bringing with it free, fun fine art experiences for all ages.
We asked Chrissie, SG’s Education & Events Lead, what her top five favourite things are about the SG Pop-up Studio!
Chrissie’s Top 5:
It’s totally free! SG provides all the supplies and materials so everyone has the chance to make an awesome fine art project they can take home with them.
The SG Pop-up Studio makes art accessible and available to people of all ages and artistic ability. For some people, it’s the first time they get to experiment with a fine art project. It’s exciting to watch people discover their creativity!
It’s a great way to meet new people and connect with the community. The SG Pop-up Studio is always bustling with activity – there’s a good chance you’ll chat with a stranger and maybe make a new connection.
It’s more than a tent. Over the past few years, the SG Pop-up Studio has grown into a traveling art hub where people can really connect with art. We often link the art project back to the current exhibits at SG, so there is a story behind the art project.
It’s a place to create a truly amazing work of art. The projects we do are always rooted in fine art practice and are often focused on printmaking. We use high-quality fine art supplies and materials too, so people really get a full art-making experience.
The SG Pop-up Studio is proudly supported by The Rotary Club of Whitby Sunrise. Be sure to check out the list of events where the Pop-up Studio will be this spring and summer.
