CONTEMPORARY LANDSCAPE PAINTING

This course is designed for students interested in contemporary urban, suburban, rural or generally non-traditional landscape painting in oil (ie: city, highway, architectural) with a focus on non-traditional colour application and experimentation.
Students will paint a landscape of (my/their) choosing from a reference photo using a layering technique.
An understanding of process and foundation will be provided through discussion and in-class demonstrations. Colour application, composition and perspective will be addressed.
Stylistic experimentation and individuality will be encouraged.

Long rounded pallet knife for mixing paint

Additional pallet knives of your choosing for use as painting tool

Oil Painters Pallet - Pallet of your choice (recommend acrylic or wood)

Clean yogurt cups acceptable

Canvas board /stretched canvas /wood panel *prepared with gesso. *Pre-toned ground with thin wash of colour (raw umber etc.) 18 x 24 *or similar depending on preference and/or reference image
