SG ARTIST MEETUP

FREE FOR PATRONS

April 8 – May 27

Mondays 4:30 – 7:30pm

Meet up with a variety of fellow artists to share your work, create collaboratively, discuss a variety of topics and more. This meetup is open to anyone with a current SG patronship. 

Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their work in a group exhibition this summer.

The last meetup of each month will include an Art Talk led by SG Curator Olex Wlasenko. 

*A valid Station Gallery patronship is required. It can be purchased upon arrival.

*Bring your own materials to create in the studio. Easels, drawing boards etc. will be provided.

Station Gallery is a full-service accessible destination for events of all kinds. We offer:

- Fully equipped lounge room
- Ample in-gallery space to accommodate up to 150 people
- Open patio space to accommodate up to 50 people
- Fully accessible washrooms
- Elevator
- Included parking

Gallery rentals are available at the discretion of Station Gallery; availability is dependent upon scheduled exhibitions and events. Fill out a rental application and email it to art@stationgallery.ca to begin the rental process.

Witches hats, an unsolved murder, graffiti in the attic—Whitby’s historic railway station contains many eerie secrets. Join SG Curator Olex as he uncovers the mysteries preserved in the Station Gallery’s heritage building legacy. 

 

It’s About Time
Thursday, September 19, 7:00 PM

At Station Gallery, Studio C 

This premiere art talk will investigates time-based media such as video, slide, film, audio or computer based art forms. Part of what it means to experience the artform is to watch it unfold over time according to the temporal logic of the medium as it is played back. Spend the next hour watching art float past on the river of time.

 

The Son of Halloween Spook-tacular: Part 2
Wednesday, October 16, 7:00 PM
At Station Gallery, Studio C

Be afraid! Be very afraid ... but join us anyway and enjoy some stories and film clips, featuring your favourite horror movies and their stars. Presented by film historian and archivist Terry Lagler, and motivational speaker and movie buff Tim Westhead, this evening presentation promises to be both fun and frightening! It’s a fine way to kick off Halloween celebrations, so bring along a friend to double the dread!

 Enjoy learning about innovative film techniques to fully appreciate your favourite flicks by director Stanley Kubrick. Meet an enthusiastic movie buff who has loved cinema since his dad took him to see Gary Cooper in High Noon. And meet a dedicated artist and art historian who names Kubrick as one of the best filmmakers of all time. Drop by for this popular interactive session, and bring along some friends to double your film fun! And don’t worry if you don’t know Kubrick – Tim and Olex will introduce you!

More than just an event – Drawing for Art is a community exhibition featuring over 120 works by talented artists from our community, culminating in an exciting evening filled with refreshments and fun.

Ticket holders are guaranteed to take home one piece of artwork. Names will be drawn in a random order, and when yours is called, you can select one remaining piece of artwork to take home.
