Call for Artist Instructor/Teaching Artists

Station Gallery has a vast offering of art classes and educational programming and we are currently looking for Artist Educators and Artist Instructors to teach our already established programs as well as introduce new programs and concepts to our offerings in the following areas:

-School programs (both at the gallery and in schools)

-Kids programming (after school, weekends and summer camp)

-Adults programming (evenings and weekends)

Artist Educator for School Programs:

Are you an artist teacher who has experience working with groups of school children either in a gallery/museum setting or in the schools? Do you believe that art is an essential way to learn about all subject matter and that students need to be exposed to hands on, engaging art interactions?

SG is looking for passionate art educators who bring the following:

– At least 1-2 years teaching experience with children from K-12
– A strong background in visual arts in a variety of media
– Knowledge of Ontario Curriculum for the Arts
– Knowledgeable in 21st century learning applications, particularly related to arts education
– Gallery, museum or similar setting experience an asset
– Teaching Certificate an asset or Teaching Artist certification
– Exceptional classroom management capabilities
– Access to car is required for teaching in the schools (compensation provided for kilometres)

Artist Instructor for Kids Programming:

SG is looking for artists who have a passion for teaching children the joys of creating and making art. If you love being an artist and want to pass along the skills and techniques in a fun, engaging and exploratory way with kids, then this could be a great fit! We are looking for artist teachers with the following:

– At least 1-2 years teaching experience with children ages 2-18
– An artistic practice or 5+ year experience making art
– Able to design outstanding lesson outlines involving  fun and engaging ways to learn art in a cooperative, friendly setting
– Exceptional classroom management skills

Artist Instructor for Adult Programming:

Are you a professional artist who enjoys sharing your knowledge, ideas and skills of art making with students? We are looking for artist teachers with the following:

– An professional art practice or 5+ year experience making art and exhibiting/selling your work
– At least 1-2 years teaching experience with adults
– Able to design outstanding lesson outlines involving  fun and engaging ways to learn art in a cooperative, friendly setting
– Friendly, adaptable teaching approach to accommodate various learning styles
