Over the course of two days, artist Maureen Da Silva will engage youth in a number of creative writing activities which they’ll then bind into small books, or handmade artist books. During the first workshop, youth will use creative writing strategies to develop personal responses to the art featured in Station Gallery’s current exhibition. Activities will include free-writing experiments, group compositions, point of view writing, as well as a number of poetry and sketching exercises. During the second workshop they’ll create two books out of their musings including a stab bound collection of their writings, as well as an accordion-style book work inspired by their favourite poetic response. Includes all materials. 11 – 15 years.
