ART IS THERAPY with bobby mcbride
The Art is Therapy program at Station Gallery introduces the principles of mindfulness, demonstrating how these can be incorporated into the visual arts. Using simple, relaxing and meditative art activities, participants will be encouraged to focus on the present moment, helping to reduce stress and increase a sense of calm.

Station Gallery Summer Camp is the place to be! Our themes will each feature five unique art projects that campers will create and exhibit at our Camper Showcase at the end of each week. Campers will enjoy four periods of art-making, split up by snacks, an outdoor lunch, and plenty of games. Whether crafting legendary creatures or monumental masterpieces, campers will leave with new skills, great friends, and artwork to be proud of!
For all Camps: Please pack a nut-free lunch, snacks and water bottle. Dress for the weather to enjoy outdoor activities.

MAGNIFICENT MONUMENTS
Step into the worlds of art and history, using legendary landmarks to inspire creative masterpieces! Campers will create works of art inspired by some of the world’s most iconic and mysterious landmarks using techniques such as drawing, painting, and mixed media. Each day offers a new landmark to explore and a new creation to be brought to life!

MYTHS AND MONSTERS
This adventure week invites young artists to explore legendary creatures, ancient myths, and fantastical worlds through painting, drawing, and mixed media. From fire-breathing dragons to colossal sea monsters, campers will bring mythical beings and places to life while learning new artistic techniques.

YOUTH ART CAMP (13 – 15 YEARS)
In this four-day art camp, students will have an opportunity to explore new art forms and build new skills. Under the guidance and support of professional artist instructors, campers will be challenged to use their creative and critical thinking skills to create incredible art projects. Whether you’re an art enthusiast or just enjoy being creative, you’ll leave this camp with new techniques and some terrific projects to take home. Parents are encouraged to attend the camper showcase at the end of the week to see what incredible artwork was created!

SG School Programs
All workshops are Arts Infused with pieces from our Permanent Collection and incorporate the Ontario Curriculum.
Lessons are designed using an experiential learning model that is student-centred and designed to strengthen innovation skills and information literacy skills with particular emphasis on the 4 C’s (Curiosity, Creativity, Collaboration and Critical Thinking).
• All programs are 3 hours in length and include a 20-30 minute guided tour of our current exhibition
• $20 per student, minimum charge of $300 per visit
1. Dazzling Dragonfly Mixed Media Collage (Grades K-3)
The natural environment and its inhabitants have been depicted in art for centuries. In this nature themed workshop, students will explore the relationship of animals and insects to their environment while experiencing watercolour painting and the art form of collage.
2. Habitat Haven Watercolour Collage (Grades 4-6)
This workshop explores the diversity of our ecosystems and the interaction of species within the habitat in an abstract artwork incorporating colour theory and bringing it to life using art techniques of watercolour, zentangle and collage.
3. Landscape Legacy (Grades 7-8)
Students will apply their knowledge of perspective applied in a landscape layout (foreground, middle and background) using positive and negative space while creating their own legacy and commitment to the environment in an abstract watercolour collage.
