GUEST CURATOR - As needed basis

Posting Date: October 18, 2021

Position Description:

Station Gallery is seeking submissions from independent art and design curators to assist Station Gallery on an as-needed basis. Annually, Station Gallery, in its various galleries, produces in excess of 15 exhibitions.

Key Responsibilites:

  • To write proposals for Station Gallery Executive team, outlining the exhibition concept, brief CV of the Artist(s)/Designer(s), operational needs assessment and identify potential fundraising opportunities

  • To articulate the concept for an art presentation and conceptualize the manner in which this art can be presented to the public

  • To organize and implement that presentation, representing the Artist(s)/Designer(s) and their work both in gallery and on-line

  • To function as a go-between for Station Gallery and the Artist/Designer

  • To provide various kinds of texts, presentations and digital content to support the project/exhibition

  • To perform required research

  • To assist facilities team with the production/installation of exhibit pieces, adhering as closely as possible to Artist(s) guidelines

Basic Requirements:

  • Ideally, at minimum, a Bachelor's Degree in Art History, Fine Arts, Curatorial Studies or Museology. Considerations made for those individuals with previous experience working as a Curator, Guest Curator or Curator's Assistant at an Art Gallery 

  • MUST be bondable.

  • MUST possess a valid driver’s licence.

  • MUST have a current Criminal Reference Check.

  • MUST provide proof of double-vaccination

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in a fast-paced office setting with frequent interruptions from other departments.

GUEST PRESENTER - As needed basis

Station Gallery seeks submissions from individuals interested in producing in-person and virtual presentations on a variety of topics, including but not limited to, art/design, art/design history and artists/designers.

Key Responsibilites:

  • To write proposals for Station Gallery Executive team, outlining the presentation concept, operational needs assessment (do you require any special technology or resources to execute your presentation) and identify potential fundraising opportunities

  • To articulate the concept for an art presentation and conceptualize the manner in which this art can be presented to the public with in-person and/or on-line

  • To provide various kinds of texts, presentations and digital content to support the project/exhibition that can be used as hand-outs (in person or digitally) or for marketing purposes

  • To perform required research
